Gelcoats - Development of test methods for predicting the lifetime of gelcoats on wind turbine blades

The aim of the project is to develop test methods that allow the high fidelity evaluation of the lifetime of coatings on wind turbine blades.

Development of fracture mechanics test methods for determination of the fracture energy of gelcoats and the gelcoat/laminate interface. Virgin specimens as well as specimens having been subjected to different environmental exposures, such as very high humidity and UV radiation, will be tested.
