DTU Wind Energy at the Technical University of Denmark has a vacancy in the Loads and Control Section at DTU Risø Campus.

DTU Wind Energy is a mission driven university department with a vision to be the preferred university partner for the global wind energy sector. The department creates value for society through integration of research with education, innovation and research-based consultancy within key fields central to the development and use of wind energy.
The Loads and Control section focuses on modeling and analysis of loads and dynamics, aero-elastic stability, and control of wind turbines and implements the research in cooperation with industry, in software tools and in courses.
The position as researcher is a permanent entry-level position.
Responsibilities and tasks
The candidate’s research will be primarily focused on the site specific wind turbine load analysis for on- and off-shore wind turbines -. This includes the development, validation, and/or uncertainty quantification of atmospheric models as well as analyses of the resulting loads sensitivities. The candidate will also perform model validation and uncertainty quantification and propagation on wind turbine or wind farm models when necessary.

The candidate will participate in a number of national and international projects as well as contributing to the management and generation of new projects. The candidate will also be encouraged to foster industrial collaborations and develop innovative ideas in the direction of commercial products. The candidate is expected to mentor masters and doctoral students at the university and/or teach university courses when required.

Candidates must hold a PhD degree (or equivalent).

A PhD in Wind Energy or a related discipline is required. The candidate should have good programming skills-and strong knowledge within the following areas:
  • Wind turbine loads and dynamics
  • Atmospheric turbulence
  • Stability and Control
  • Aeroelastic model validation
  • Wind turbine sensitivities to atmospheric loads
  • Uncertainty quantification and propagation
Applicants should also have good interdisciplinary knowledge and analytical skills as well as demonstrate an excellent ability to work both independently and collaboratively with other researchers. Previous experience with teaching, mentoring and/or project management will also strengthen the candidate’s application.

Salary and terms of employment
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed with the relevant union.
The position as researcher is a permanent entry-level position. After a maximum of 4 years, a researcher can be promoted to a senior researcher position after assessment. More information can be found here: Career paths at DTU.
