The Department of Wind Energy has a 2 year post-doctoral position opening in the area of wind turbine control with focus on wind farm operation.


The Department is a world leader in several aspects of wind energy and runs research projects in collaboration with other leading universities and industry. The post-doctoral candidate will have the opportunity besides working on this project to also gain knowledge from interactions with leading experts in wind energy.


Responsibilities and tasks

Your work will be on further development of control design methods, generic turbine control algorithms and quantification of the impact of these on the response for turbine in wind farms where the interaction of turbines are important for the overall performance.


You will participate in a number of national and international research projects within the field of loads and control, and contribute to the management and generation of new projects. There are also good opportunities for developing innovative ideas in the direction of commercializing research.


Candidates should have a PhD degree or equivalent.


A PhD degree in Control Engineering or similar discipline is required.  


Applicants should have excellent analytical skills and the ability to work independently towards the research goals.  A strong computational mechanics background is required along with a background in at least one of following disciplines:

·         Wind turbine loads prediction and aeroelasticity

·         Dynamics and control

Salary and terms of employment

The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed with the relevant union.


Workplace and period of employment

The workplace is DTU Risø campus, Near Roskilde, Denmark.

The period of employment is 2 years from 1 May 2017.
