Wind energy is a huge part of the Danish electricity demand

Friday 14 Jul 17

This last week, more than half of the Danish electricity demand was met by wind energy, shows numbers from Wind Europe.

Europe is a global leader in wind energy. Last year, wind energy covered 10.4% of EU power demand, having Denmark in the definite forefront.

The last week, Denmark has been in the lead of countries generating on- and offshore wind energy on a daily basis.

Yesterday, July 13th, 72 percent of the Danish electricity demand was met by wind energy. It could power 6 million equivalent EU households.

The 72 percent ranked Denmark as a clear number one in correlation with the other European countries when looking at countries with the highest shares of wind in their electricity grids.
