The Department of Wind Energy at the Technical University of Denmark seeks a candidate for a position as researcher in the blooming field of advanced lidar remote sensing wind measurement technology.

The position as researcher is a permanent entry-level position in the Test and Measurement section which is an international leader in experimental research and the development of remote sensing measurement techniques within the field of wind energy. Our main areas of research and development include: 

  • Wind measurements based on optical remote sensing (space and time synchronized scanning wind lidars)
  • Wind turbine power and load measurements
  • Wind turbine sensor technology
  • Participation in the development of international measurement standards.
  • Consultancy for the wind industry
Responsibilities and tasks
This position will be directly related to on-going research within development and application of coherent Doppler lidar measurement techniques for wind energy. In particular, the successful applicant will be expected to take a leading role in the development and testing of the optical components in combination with signal data processing methods and algorithms.

Qualifications
The applicant should have:
  • A PhD degree within remote sensing, preferably within lidar measurement technology or a near related area
  • Detailed knowledge and hands-on experiences with wind lidar systems
  • Strong theoretical and experimental background in optics; in particular fibre optics and laser physics
  • Experience with advanced optical measurement techniques
  • Experience with lidar measurements and data processing
  • Excellent communication skills in written and spoken English

  • Experience with wind measurements based on remote sensing focusing on lidar technology

  • Potential to contribute to the department’s overall research goals and potential to secure external funding

Salary and terms of employment
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed with the relevant union.

The position as researcher is a permanent entry-level position. After a maximum of 4 years, a researcher can be promoted to a senior researcher position after assessment. More information can be found here: Career paths at DTU.
